I am thinking of running a staysail downhaul back to the cockpit, I've got a few setups in mind but would love to hear how others have it rigged...any tips or tricks?
Leading the staysail downhaul to the cockpit is actually smart for easy handling. Use fairleads and blocks near the mast, then run it back through clutches or cleats. Keep the line smooth and avoid sharp bends
I did that on my sloop, running the staysail downhaul back to the cockpit works best with a small block and cam cleat near the traveler, it keeps it tidy and lets you trim without leaving the helm.
