Hi,
I own hull PSC37 #114 a 1981 Crealock 37 named Indy - and I'm currently in Brisbane, Australia preparing to unstep the mast for a full re-rig.
I have quotes from two local riggers and a question about wire sizing. The current standing rigging is factory spec except the backstay is 8mm. I'm being quoted 7mm 1x19 316 for babystay, caps, and lowers, with 8mm for the backstay and forestay. Another quote on the table is saying 6mm lowers with 8mm stays, caps, and babystay. What wire diameter would you recommend for the 37 doing offshore work?
Do you have any guidance on other owners deviating from the original wire specifications for the 37, and whether upsizing the cap shrouds to 8mm is appropriate or advisable for offshore bluewater use?
I'd also welcome any notes on the mast tangs as I would like to replace those as well.
Thanks for any help you can offer.
