1993 PSC-34 repair or repower?

Our 1993 PSC-34 likely still has the original engine, and during maintenance, our mechanic found the heat exchanger shot, rusted fuel lines and broken studs, with no repair parts available since they stopped making them in 2007.
I saw a used 3HM35F for around $6k on ebay, but that feels like just delaying the inevitable. Planning to keep the boat another 7 years, so im looking for honest input on whether to repair or repower.

If you're thinking about keeping the boat for another seven years, rebuilding your current engine could really be the way to go. You can fix what needs fixing and keep a close watch on it. Sure, buying a used 3HM35F could work for now, but it might just delay the inevitable issues. Repowering is definitely more expensive, but it tends to be more dependable in the long run.

Totally agree, parts for these older PSC engines are getting harder to find and rebuilding can be a smart way to extend the life of what you already know. Keeping an eye on everything as you go adds peace of mind too. Have you looked into what a full rebuild would cost compared to repowering with something newer , like a Beta or Yanmar drop in?
